Let's Tell the Mayor: No Jets on Toronto's Waterfront!

Join NoJetsTO for the Upcoming Meeting of City Council's Executive Committee on Tuesday, September 24 September 19, 2013 TORONTO - The City review of the dangerous jet plans for the waterfront are well underway. This coming Tuesday, City staff will give an update to the Mayor and his inner circle on the progress of the review. When: Tuesday, September 24, 9:30 a.m. (exact timing of the jet plan update to be determined) Where: Committee Room 1, City Hall, 100 Queen St W, Toronto RSVP: just fill out the form below This is our chance to speak out and make it clear to the Mayor and his hand-picked Executive Committee why jets and waterfront don't mix. The staff update is one of many agenda items for that day, so we don't know at what time the issue comes up. Since the Executive Committee has to vote to acknowledge the staff report, deputations are possible. That means any Toronto resident can show up, sign up to speak and make a short speech on the issue. The length of your remarks will be determined based on factors like the time of the day, the number of speakers, etc. Typically, it's 3 to 5 minutes that you have. NoJetsTO and other organizations like neighbourhood associations and other community groups will be there - plus a good number of individual citizens. But we need more - if you are free on Tuesday, join us. Even if you don't feel like speaking, just sit in the room with us and show the Mayor that the opposition to the jet plans is strong and widespread. We will be live-tweeting from the Executive Committee meeting. So if you are on Twitter, you could be on 'stand-by' and as soon as we know when the item comes up we'll tweet it and you can swing by City Hall. For the official agenda of the meeting, click here.
