Larry Perlman Endorses NoJetsTO
Ward 7 Candidate & Former City of Toronto Representative from Pearson Airport's CENAC, endorses NoJetsTO
I wish to endorse NoJetsTO for the outstanding work they have done to stop jets flying out of Toronto's Waterfront.
As a past City of Toronto representative from 2007 to 2011 at Pearson Airport's "Community Environment And Noise Advisory Committee" (CENAC) I fought for many years to stop aircraft noise from hurting the surroundings at Toronto's major airport. I know that uncontrolled aircraft noise in sensitive residential areas of Toronto can have a detrimental effect on the lives of its inhabitants and cause unnecessary environmental damage to the surrounding area.
When NoJetsTO began fighting against expanding the Billy Bishop (Island) Airport to allow jets, I was one of the first in Ward 7 (York West) to place a lawn sign at my home. Since then I have been an outspoken critic of all expansion plans that bring jets to Toronto's Waterfront. Personally, my family are regular attendees to Toronto events downtown and are well aware of the noise and environmental effects caused by jets.
Now that I am running for City Councillor in Ward 7 (York West) I have also spoken out against jets flying out of Billy Bishop Airport. During the televised debate for Ward 7 Councillor, for example, I specifically spoke out against jets at Toronto's Waterfront (see the debate and my comments on-line at http://www.citynews.ca/2014/
09/28/toronto-election-2014- ward-7-debate/ ).
And Toronto voters can view my platform on allowing jets at Billy Bishop Airport through my candidate website at http://larryperlman.
