It was the first time that NoJetsTO was nominated for the award. “With a newly elected City Council and mayor who won’t share his vision for our waterfront, this campaign is more important than ever,” the NoJetsTO spokesperson added. “The future of our waterfront is high on the agenda for many people across Toronto as NOW Magazine readers have made clear.” “I would like to thank our countless supporters, volunteers, NOW Magazine and especially their readers for making this honour possible,” Norman Di Pasquale added. “The NoJetsTO campaign is about civic engagement – one of the finest qualities our city has to offer.” NoJetsTO is a coalition of concerned citizens dedicated to preserving Toronto’s mixed-use waterfront and a boutique Island Airport. Representing residents across Toronto, the non-partisan organization NoJetsTO opposes the expansion of the Island Airport through jet aircraft and extended runways. NoJetsTO’s goal is to preserve the status quo at the Island Airport by protecting the Tripartite Agreement that governs it. Link: NOW Magazine 2014 reader's award website
