Stop the Port Authority Cash Grab
The Toronto Port Authority is selling federally-owned land just a block away from our waterfront – without any public input. The backroom deal will turn public land over to a private developer while the Port Authority lines its coffers with $96 million for expensive infrastructure that could be used for Island Airport expansion. The decision to include even non-TPA land in the deal has lobbyists’ fingerprints all over.
The outrageous sale of the 30 Bay Street/60 Harbour Street land flies in the face of repeated promises to reform the unaccountable Toronto Port Authority. We call on the federal government to put the land sale on hold until a public consultation has taken place. We also call on the federal government to make good on its commitment and reform the Port Authority and align it with Toronto’s waterfront renewal efforts.
